Evan Elliott

Evan’s in-depth understanding and knowledge of finance, financial compliance, big-ticket infrastructure projects and capital raising will be invaluable to Dacent REIT’s Board Advisory Council.

He is currently a Director, General Counsel and joint founder of the Freshwater Group, an Australian licenced wholesale funds manager, who have, through their strategic relationships in the Asia Pacific region, developed a regional capital raising, investment, development and management business for large developments and infrastructure projects, aimed at adding to the social fabric and wellbeing of communities in the Asia Pacific region.

Evan has chief responsibility for:

  1. Corporate Compliance, i.e. the development and implementation of the company charters, policies, procedures, manuals and guidelines.
  2. Transaction Delivery, i.e. transaction documentation and delivery and ensuring regulatory compliance for the Freshwater Group in areas ranging from capital raising to project delivery, which generally needs to meet multiple stakeholder (Government, community, builder and investor) requirements.

Prior to joining Freshwater Group Evan was for 10 years a partner in legal practices specializing in financial services, banking and finance law providing services to a range of clients including banks, managed funds and insurance companies.

Before joining a legal practice, Evan was a senior lawyer with two of Australia’s largest banks for a period spanning almost 20 years, providing legal advice to a range of business units including private banking, corporate banking, SME banking and rural banking. Key areas of achievement include:

  • National responsibility for the delivery of strategy and documentation of property related legal services and project financing structuring,
  • Development and implementation of industry and credit strategies and legal policies and documentation for the bank’s property client base; and
  • Creation of leading edge, market accepted, and customer focused documentation.
